Featured Teaching Artist
Liz teaches programming at our studio, she spoke on our Artist Panel last year for ACTion Art, and she enthusiastically gets involved in any ACT project that comes her way. Here is a little bit more about Liz in her own words:
What is your background within the arts?
I grew up in a theater family, but I didn't really become active until my college years. I have 15 years of experience in the film and television industry and have been very active in our local theater community since 2018, where I have worked as a props designer.
How did you get involved with ACT?
I got involved with ACT through the non-profit I work for, Mosaic Film Experience. We partnered with ACT in 2022, where I hosted a filmmaking class for ACT Explorations.
You taught 'Digital Storytelling' this fall. What were some highlights of this program?
The biggest highlights for me involve the students. They had amazing energy, came to class every time with curiosity, great imagination, and were eager to learn. They created the idea for our final project, a mini video about ACT, proving that everyone can be a storyteller.
With your 'Set Design' class coming up in the spring, what are you most looking forward to?
I am most looking forward to sharing how collaborative theater arts can be, watching the students grow in a new art form, and seeing what they come up with for our sets.
What is a fun fact that the world should know about you?
Fun Fact: I used to be a professional welder and trained to be an underwater welder.
